Climbing is a brilliant sport for developing agility, balance and co-ordination skills both on and off the wall, as well as confidence and problem solving abilities. Climbing skills are often skills for life which can be applied to many activities and opportunities!

All instruction is age appropriate, and sessions are filled with bouldering-specific games and challenges.

Boulder Monkeys: Level 3-4

For our Boulder Monkeys who are ready for a new challenge after completing NICAS level 2, we have the Level 3 group. Here, we introduce more advanced bouldering techniques and skills, while reinforcing safety measures. The emphasis is still on having fun, but with a tad more focus on progression.

Boulder Juniors: Level 1-2

Boulder Juniors Level 1-2 is designed for older kids eager to start to learn bouldering in a fun and safe environment. The focus here is to build on the fundamental climbing skills, improving agility, balance, and coordination, while learning to navigate more complex routes.

Boulder Juniors: Level 3-4

Boulder Juniors Level 3 is the club for those aged 11+, ready to take their bouldering to the next level after completing NICAS level 2. This club introduces advanced techniques and encourages independent navigation of more challenging bouldering routes.

What is NICAS Climbing?

NICAS Climbing is a UK-wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. They’re a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, from novice to experienced, starting from age 7.

NICAS Climbing has five progressive levels of award for complete novices to expert climbers. The scheme is split into two parts and takes a minimum of 80 hours to complete Levels 1 to 4 and an additional year to complete Level 5. Part one contains Levels 1 to 3 and part two contains Levels 4 and 5.

Our clubs are split into age and level, with Boulder Monkeys for ages 7-10 and Boulder Juniors for ages 11+, in either a level 1&2 club or level 3.

NICAS registration and logbooks are strongly recommended for our youth clubs, but are optional. Please speak to a receptionist to purchase your NICAS logbook and register for the scheme.

Billing

Your monthly payment reserves your child’s space on their club. We run billing on the 1st of the month or shortly after. You will be billed in full for your child’s club each month, regardless of how many sessions there are in the month. This means that some months you will be able to attend a session every week, however club sessions do not run outside of term times – please ensure you are familiar with our term times, timetable and important dates on the club pages on our website.

Your child is welcome to start at any point during the month, but it will be billed in full – so it may be prudent to wait a week until the next month for the best value!

Cancellations

If you wish to leave the clubs you must let us know your leaving date no later than 2 weeks before you wish to leave. Your child is welcome to stay until the very end of their last month. You will not receive a partial refund if you stop attending part way through a month, or if there are weeks without sessions. It might be good to see which month/date is the best to finish on to make the most of your monthly bill.

Injuries, Holidays & Missed Sessions

Unfortunately, we are unable to freeze or refund payments if your child is unable to attend their club due to being injured, sick, going on holiday or being absent. Your monthly payment reserves your child’s space in their club. We will not provide partial refunds for weeks where climbing is missed due to injury, holidays or any other reason.

Occasionaly, in rare cases, there may be an event in the centre which necessitates some club sessions being cancelled for a short period of time. We usually do our best to provide club members with an alternative session, but this may not always be possible. Though very rare, reimbursements are not provided for cancelled sessions.
