Try out our Kids Boulder Clubs without signing up for the whole term.

These sessions allow kids to try their hand (and feet) at climbing, and gain an understanding of how we run our boulder clubs, should they wish to sign up and become a club member!

With friendly instructors guiding them around the centre, teaching them the basics of climbing and some techniques & tricks, kids will come away having learned how to move in a way they didn’t know possible, hooked to a sport that will be with them forever!

NICAS is designed for kids eager to learn bouldering in a fun and safe environment. We focus on building on the fundamental climbing skills, improving agility, balance, and coordination while learning to navigate more complex routes.

The climbing sessions are not just about bouldering; we aim to develop social skills by maintaining consistency in groups and encouraging friendship and team spirit.

What is NICAS Climbing?

NICAS Climbing is a UK-wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. They’re a starting point for people wishing to take up climbing and mountaineering, from novice to experienced, starting from age 7.

NICAS Climbing has five progressive levels of award for complete novices to expert climbers. The scheme is split into two parts and takes a minimum of 80 hours to complete Levels 1 to 4 and an additional year to complete Level 5. Part one contains Levels 1 to 3 and part two contains Levels 4 and 5.

Our clubs are split into age and level, with Boulder Monkeys for ages 7-10 and Boulder Juniors for ages 11+, in either a level 1&2 club or level 3.

NICAS registration and logbooks are strongly recommended for our youth clubs, but are optional. Please speak to a receptionist to purchase your NICAS logbook and register for the scheme.
